Compare the mechanics
Section titled “Compare the mechanics”| Mechanic | Bonding curves | Presales |
|---|---|---|
| How you buy | Buy and sell against a reserve-based curve. | Commit a quote coin during a sale window. |
| Price | Changes with buys and sells. Optional opening-round bids share one purchase. | Participants share one sale price. |
| Before pool trading | Sell while the curve is live. Opening-round bids cannot be withdrawn. | Commitments remain locked until launch or cancellation. |
| What triggers the next stage | Real quote reserves reach the graduation target, closing curve trading. Pool creation is a separate operation. | The sale closes and settles. A funded sale can then launch its pool. |
| If the target is missed | No expiry, cancellation, or target-miss refund. | A sale that ends below its raise target refunds commitments. |
| If liquidity is delayed | No presale-style cancellation deadline. | A funded sale can be cancelled after its liquidity window if it has not launched. |
